Some examples are animals, architectural structures, art forms, fish, flowering plants, peoples, occupations, transportation and weather. There is a major emphasis on historical and socio-cultural phenomena. A typical citation under a subject entry includes an abbreviated journal title; volume number; inclusive pagination; date of publication; identification of type of illustration as painting, drawing or photograph; indication of color or black and white; and size of illustration.
