Meet Attie Nichols, a middle-aged single accountant whose life has never been easy. Now she's ready for a change, but how much can she handle? Midlife Undercover. Regular citizen by day, and monster hunter by night. Attie should have known better than to trust her luck—especially when real estate was involved. Her first experience taught her hard lessons about homeowners' associations and suburban nightmares. So when her next purchase turned out to be a collection of charming lakeside cottages at a price that seemed too good to be true, Attie did her homework. No HOA. No restrictive ordinances. No obvious red flags. Still, she knew better. Deals like this always came with strings attached. The first night brought a distant howl. Unsettling, but manageable. But it didn't take long for Attie to realize that the property came with complications she couldn't explain—and threats she hadn't planned for. That was when Attie realized she was dangerously underprepared for this life. Monster hunting required more than stubbornness. It meant planning, weapons, research—and careful record-keeping, assuming she survived long enough to do so. A trip into town reveals vandalism, uneasy locals, and a growing sense that something is very wrong beneath the quaint surface. Between mounting renovations, unexpected expenses, and a realtor who seems far too pleased with the sale, Attie starts to understand the truth she's been avoiding. This isn't about bad luck. It's about survival. And walking away was never really an option. Buyers & Beasts is book two in the Midlife Undercover series—urban fantasy meets paranormal women's fiction, with wit, grit, and a heroine who learns that midlife is when you stop pretending to be normal. She hoped to pop by later with a thank you gift. Standard practice. My first realtor brought a cheese board. The way Esther was smiling, my bet was on a bottle of wine. One of these days, I was going to learn, but not today. Today was all about hard knocks, hard fights, and hard hearts. I once thought myself tough, but I wasn't sure I was tough enough to survive all of this. The alternative, as far as I was concerned, wasn't an alternative at all.
