If someone has low self-confidence and feels unaccepted, using drugs can be seen as a way to temporarily gain confidence and strength. An important thing for young adults to remember is that there are no safe or risk-free drugs. Regardless of individual risk factors, drug use can always lead to addiction. It is therefore important to be aware of possible dangers and risks and to look for healthy coping strategies.
