And I l-love you—" Zune looked quickly down at Xian, and Xian's heart skipped a beat from the intensity of her blue eyes. "I'd do anything for you," Xian plunged on bravely. "And I you," Zune said, gently pinching Xian's chin. The blue eyes were still intense, and Xian could tell from the way that they lingered on her lips that Zune wanted to kiss her. Instead of kissing Xian, however, Zune whispered, "Whatever you want me to do, I'll do it. Mount an Eternity chip on you? Fine. Remove my own Eternity chip? As you wish. I have come to realize that the thought of losing your love frightens me more than anything, even my own mortality." It would be a fitting place to go into sleep mode, to stand in silent guard, here, beneath the enormous yellow moon, and perhaps she would never again wake. The moon hovered over her even now, obscuring the stars. She envied them, that they could stay afloat when it seemed that all her life she had been falling.
