John Culshaw è stato uno dei producer più influenti del 20° secolo: basta ricordare le leggendarie registrazioni del Ring di Solti e del War Requiem di Britten. In occasione del centenario della nascita (maggio 1924), Decca pubblica un cofanetto di 12 CD a tiratura limitata che ripercorre gli inizi della sua carriera alla Decca nel 1948, presenta artisti scomparsi da tempo e ripristina nel catalogo molte incisioni inedite internazionalmente su CD.
Tra le “chicche” si segnalano Copland che interpreta Copland, la prima registrazione in studio dell'Adagio per archi di Barber, le incisioni di Bayreuth del 1951 e del 1953, un master ritrovato di Clifford Curzon e la prima uscita internazionale del Requiem tedesco di Brahms diretto da Georg Solti del 1954. Tutte le registrazioni sono stata rimasterizzate a 24 bit/192 kHz partendo dai nastri originali. Le note del liberto sono state realizzate da Dominic Fyfe, Producer Decca Classics e vincitore del Premio Grammy, che ha curato questo progetto.
